Ranked Choice Voting: What is it and how does it change the way you vote
November 1, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm PDT
Free
Presented by
Lisa Aryault, Director of FairVote Washington & Tavan Pechet, Principal of Pechet Advisors and Board Election Reformers Network
Description
Americans are talking about our democracy and the best ways to protect and improve it. Interest in ranked choice voting has been spreading fast in communities across the country, with Evanston, Illinois, and Fort Collins, Colorado due to vote in November on whether to join New York City, Minneapolis, Portland, and the 20 other localities that already use it. And on November 8, voters in the City of Seattle will have the opportunity to change the way we vote! What are ranked choice voting and approval voting? Why does it matter? How will it impact Seattle, and how would it impact other communities across the country? Join us to learn how we can improve the way people in Seattle and America vote!
*This talk will be about educating voters on ranked choice voting and will not advocate for any candidates running in the election.
Speakers
Lisa Ayrault, Director of FairVote Washington (@FairVoteWA, https://www.facebook.com/FairVoteWA)
