Parenting With a Calming Presence: Use the Power of Polyvagal Theory to Navigate Family Life

Presented by Maria Ryabokon, Certified Parent Coach, www.parentwithasmile.com

Can you recall a time in your family when your child was “melting down” and you became irritated, angry, or irate? Have you ever thought, “Why does that make me so upset?! I don’t understand why I freeze/want to run away/get so angry when my child does or says XYZ?”

Join us to explore how Polyvagal Theory can deepen your awareness to support yourself, lower your stress levels, and find the inner calm needed to parent peacefully, with empowerment. Our job as parents is to understand our & our child’s fight or flight responses. Our role, especially when our child is yelling, hitting, or throwing, is to invoke our cellular safety and stand grounded and present. Parents can learn how to feel safe enough to get curious, get creative, and get committed to supporting children through their dysregulation in a way that serves them best.

With deeper understanding of the nervous system, potential triggers, and calming tools, parents can learn to radiate inner safety, they can attune to their child’s alarm signals, and they can ground them back into calmness.

Featured Speaker:

Maria Ryabokon is a Certified Parent Coach specializing in helping parents find the courage and tools they need to build a fulfilling, nurturing and joyful relationship with their children. Following the birth of her own child and volunteering at daycares as a support teacher, Maria came to understand the profound impact of a nurturing home environment on a child’s development and resilience. This realization led her to leave her Tech job and shift her focus towards empowering parents. Her diverse background helps her see everything from different perspectives. She was a breadwinner and a stay-at-home mom; she was burnt out from work and parenting; she supported preschool teachers and VPs of global organizations. Drawing from these rich experiences, Maria is passionately guiding parents on transformative journeys of self-awareness, compassion, and unconditional love.
