Description
According to an article by the Harvard Business Review, “Today’s leaders must embrace social media for three reasons. First, they provide a low-cost platform on which to build your personal brand, communicating who you are both within and outside your company. Second, they allow you to engage rapidly and simultaneously with peers, employees, customers, and the broader public, especially younger generations, in the same transparent and direct way they expect from everyone in their lives. Third, they give you an opportunity to learn from instant information and unvarnished feedback. Active participation in social media can be a powerful tool—the difference between leading effectively and ineffectively, and between advancing and faltering in the pursuit of your goals.”
Building a solid social media presence is important not just for businesses, but also for professionals – it allows you to grow your social reach, build authority and showcase your own personal branding. Even if you use social media only from time to time, the information you provide in your social media is part of your narrative to the world. It is important to effectively manage and optimize the way you showcase yourself to others through your social media. Our panelists will speak om how it is worth the time and effort to carefully cultivate a proper presence in the right social media network, which can ultimately help you land your next job opportunity or build valuable connections.
Panelists
Limor Bergman, Director of Mentorship Program, PowerToFly
Hi, I am Limor. I have been working in the tech industry for over 20 years as a software engineer, engineering manager, and Director of engineering. I know firsthand how it is like being a woman in a very male-dominated field. After spending nine years living in the US, I returned to my home country and decided to focus on my passion for supporting women’s career growth in tech. I have been mentoring women for over four years and created a mentorship program for women with PowerToFly. I also consult with companies that want to build mentorship programs or build a full mentorship program based on the company’s needs.
When I moved to the US in December 2010, I had to find a job in a new country without knowing anyone. So I had to navigate LinkedIn and figure how to brand myself for employers and find a job. I perfected my LinkedIn profile and was able to get multiple job opportunities without even looking for a job. I now help women do the same and have both one on one coaching business and a full course on LinkedIn. My latest project is building a training program to teach women how to code while working with companies on building real projects for them. To do that, I partnered with an experienced trainer. We are called equaltocode, and plan to launch the program at the beginning of 2022.
