Topic of the Month: Setting Healthy Boundaries and Self-Respect

What is the Featured Panelists Spotlight?

Our Featured Panelists Spotlight will be held on a Wednesday of each month. During the Featured Panelists Spotlight, we invite guest panelists to share their experiences, insights, tips and strategies that they have found to be effective in their professional or personal lives when tackling the featured topic for the month.

Setting Healthy Boundaries in the Workplace

Boundaries are limits we identify for ourselves, establish through healthy professional practices and apply through action or communication. When we define what we need to feel secure and healthy, we can do wonders for our well-being and productivity at work and at home — which, in turn, allows us to bring our best selves to both places. It’s important to set boundaries at work in order to maintain a good work-life balance and raise your work satisfaction. If you’re struggling with establishing limits and communicating your needs at work, it’s important to understand how to set boundaries.

Panelists-

Heidi Carlson is a Certified Master Life Coach specializing in Mother-Daughter Relationships. She guides women navigating complex mother-daughter dynamics to heal their pain and struggle and build an empowering relationship with themselves. As the youngest of five children born to immigrant parents in an arranged marriage, Heidi observed the complexities of her parents’ unhealthy relationship. At age 19, these complexities began showing up in Heidi’s relationships, starting with her relationship with her mother. This became the catalyst for Heidi to embark on a lifelong journey of self-discovery and personal growth work. Immersing herself in therapy, coaching, and diverse growth programs, Heidi learned from influential coaches, including: Brendon Burchard, Mel Robbins, Tom and Lisa Bilyeu, The Gottman Institute, The Life Coaching School, Co-Active Coaching Training Institute, Positive Intelligence Coaching, and The Elementum Coaching Institute where she gained her Certified Master Life Coach Certification. Heidi underwent a profound
transformation, in the relationship with herself and the relationship with her mother. She also mastered the art of building and maintaining thriving relationships in every area of her life. Drawing from these rich and personal experiences, Heidi has passionately guided numerous women on transformative journeys of growth, healing, and empowerment in their relationships.

Amy Trenary has spent much of her 20+ year career building and executing results-driven go-to-marketing strategies in hyper-growth, highly-matrixed technology organizations. Amy’s a firm believer that all leaders have a moral obligation to raise up the next ones in line by passing on valuable knowledge and insights they’ve learned throughout their career (and life!). As a woman in tech, she intimately understands the barriers women in particular may face as they juggle advancement in their careers and their personal lives, and has mentored dozens of colleagues along their journey in reaching their goals. Currently serving as the Chief of Staff to the VP of the Americas Cloud Sales at VMware, Amy acts as a general manager to a 400+ team and supports both her direct executive and leadership team with strategic planning, change management/organizational health, and GTM strategy. She’s an Arizona State University graduate with graduate certificates from the University of Washington and Northwestern University, an Executive Advisor for Iternal Technologies, and launched a wellness marketplace on 2.4.24.

Outside of work, Amy loves spending time with her husband, 17-year-old son, and extended family and friends. Turquoise blue ocean water, baby’s belly laughs, entertaining friends/family, the burn from a barre or pilates class, white wines and anything coconut fill her bucket list.
