Description

What is the Featured Panelists Spotlight?

Our Featured Panelists Spotlight will be held every first Wednesday of each month. During the Featured Panelists Spotlight, we invite guest panelists to share their experiences, insights, tips and strategies that they have found to be effective in their professional or personal lives when tackling the featured topic for the month.

February Featured Topic – Making a Great Impression at Your Interviews

You know your resume looks great and you have been invited for the initial interviews, yet you never seem to get past the initial interviews to be asked back for the next round. Sometimes that may be because the interviewer does not think you are a right fit for the particular open position. Or in other cases, it could be that you have given a less than stellar first impression at your initial interview.  To make matters worse, it’s almost impossible to recover from making a bad first impression.  We understand that interviewing can be extremely stressful for candidates but being adequately prepared to make a first good impression can be crucial to getting you closer to landing that job you are pursuing.

These days, since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, interviews are likely to be conducted via phone or over an online platform such as Zoom, Teams or Google Meet. That can create an even greater challenge to make a good first impression when we have less of an opportunity to build a rapport with the interviewers through our body language and eye contact.

Our panelists will share their tips on how to make a great first impression, whether it’s an in-person interview, on the phone or through these online platforms. Making a good impression is not as hard as it seems. Our panelists will share some common mistakes that you might be making during our interviews that can cost you the opportunity to be invited back, and the adjustments you should make to start leaving better impressions at your interviews.
