Description
What is the Featured Panelists Spotlight?
Our Featured Panelists Spotlight will be held every first Wednesday of each month. During the Featured Panelists Spotlight, we invite guest panelists to share their experiences, insights, tips and strategies that they have found to be effective in their professional or personal lives when tackling the featured topic for the month.
March Featured Topic – Best Practices for Online Communications
During the COVID-19 pandemic, most of us found that we had to move to a new way of working – abandoning our offices and setting up to work from our home offices. Our work meetings are no longer in person affairs but rather, conducted several times a day over online video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Skype, etc.
To present our best selves in these video conferencing calls, it is still really important to look and sound as polished and professional as possible, and to understand that conducting these online meetings can have their own unique etiquette. Even if you are a seasoned communicator, you can still make some common mistakes when communicating through this new medium. It is always important to maintain your personal branding consistently, irrespective of the medium you present yourself.
Our panelists will share how they have optimized their video conferencing setup so they can look, feel and present their best during their online meetings! They will discuss common mistakes with these types of communications and how to reduce distractions that can occur at these online interactions, so that you can get your messages across.
Panelists
Erin Keam is a Kiwi living in Seattle. She mentors women solopreneurs on marketing, mindset and money. Erin’s background includes running an online-communications business focused on personal branding and messaging and was the host of Conversations About Closets With MY Closest Thousand Friends, where she interviewed 150 women in business. She would have happily continued but was called to discuss stories women were told as children, and later by society about money and their relationship to it. Due to this, and her own personal money recovery journey, Erin will soon be releasing her new podcast, Money On Her Mind. Erin bases her methods on 23 years in the recovery field. That’s over 10,000 hours of mentoring, problem solving, identifying repeating patterns, tackling dysfunctional mindsets, beliefs and seeing lives transform in every area. 30 years in marketing, retail, sales, customer service, radio, TV, film, print, advertising, acting, copywriting, managing and recruiting. 5 years of running her own business, which has pivoted and evolved – just like her. When not working with women, Erin is learning to rap so she can rewrite and perform sexist songs. Erin is frequently traveling, so reach out to her via LinkedIn. Limor Bergman, Director of Mentorship Program, PowerToFly
Hi, I am Limor. I have been working in the tech industry for over 20 years as a software engineer, engineering manager, and Director of engineering. I know firsthand how it is like being a woman in a very male-dominated field. After spending nine years living in the US, I returned to my home country and decided to focus on my passion for supporting women’s career growth in tech. I have been mentoring women for over four years and created a mentorship program for women with PowerToFly. I also consult with companies that want to build mentorship programs or build a full mentorship program based on the company’s needs. My latest project is building a training program to teach women how to code while working with companies on building real projects for them. To do that, I partnered with an experienced trainer. We are called equaltocode, and plan to launch the program at the beginning of 2022.
