Dancing with Dementia – What is Dementia and how to dance with it instead of around it.
March 16, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm PDT
Free
Presented by
Faith Marshall, Author, Coach, Speaker, Hypnotist, and Hospice Volunteer
Description
This talk focuses on how to navigate dementia care for a loved one while thriving as a working professional. Statistically, 1 in 6 of us will face dementia in our family unit. And of those families, 60% of unpaid caregivers are women.
We all know women wear multiple hats as career professionals. You know the game of juggling career, sports mom, volunteer activities, let alone all things domestic and some of us also wear the hat of caring for a loved one with Dementia. Let’s talk about what dementia is and how a diagnosis can impact the entire family.
The journey is real and emotions can run high and feel overwhelming. Let’s learn how to navigate dementia with the support of resources and community or how to support your friends as they face helping their loved one. Chances are you either know someone that is on this journey or has been.
We’ll cover topics from raising awareness and recognizing the early signs in neighbors and friends. And actively being the family advocate or caregiver, how to ask for help, when to take a break and plan for what’s next as well as how to know when it’s time to get professional care.
If you know someone who may benefit from our talk, please invite them to this talk as your guest!
And
Remember ~ When you feel the beat…DANCE!
