Once a month on a Friday, The Koa Club will host an online Huddle focused on women supporting other women in their professional and personal endeavors.

Join us in fellowship with other professional women to foster community, empower each other and provide ongoing collaborative opportunities, which we believe to be crucially important, especially during these particularly challenging times. We want to build a culture where women can get inspired, support, learn, share resources and information, and have a safe place to ask questions and be vulnerable, authentic and open.

Each month will focus on a different topic. For September, we wanted to tackle the topic of: You’ve Heard of The Glass Ceiling But What is the Glass Cliff?

By now everyone is familiar with the glass ceiling—the metaphorical barrier that keeps women out of management. In the past few years, researchers have found that women have a better chance of breaking through that ceiling when an organization is facing a crisis and likely to fail—thus finding themselves on what Michelle Ryan and Alex Haslam have termed the “glass cliff.” And it’s not just a phenomenon reserved for women; it happens with minority groups, too. But the question remains why.
