Description

Once a month on a Friday, The Koa Club will host an online Huddle focused on women supporting other women in their professional and personal endeavors.

Join us in fellowship with other professional women to foster community, empower each other and provide ongoing collaborative opportunities, which we believe to be crucially important, especially during these particularly challenging times. We want to build a culture where women can get inspired, support, learn, share resources and information, and have a safe place to ask questions and be vulnerable, authentic and open.

Each month will focus on a different topic. For April, we thought it might be helpful to chat on “What are Soft Skills and Why Do We Need Them?”

We all know that the world is changing rapidly and how work gets done is evolving. As a result, screening and hiring employees has changed too. For hiring managers, an age-old dilemma persists. Two seemingly qualified candidates interview for the same position, but only one can be hired. When choosing between two almost equal candidates, organizations are now prioritizing “soft skills” as the key differentiator. In fact, in LinkedIn’s Global Talent Trends report of 2021, “92% of talent acquisition professionals reported that soft skills are equally or more important to hire for than hard skills. And, 89% said that when a new hire doesn’t work out, it’s because they lack critical soft skills.”

Soft skills have become crucial success factors. As more and more job activities become automated, soft skills, which cannot yet be replicated by machines, have become more important. Bottom line: Soft skills matter, so let’s talk about why! And what does having soft skills actually even mean?
