Presented by

Morgan Boyle, experienced snowshoe trip leader

Description

So its winter (for those of us in the northern hemisphere) and instead of feeling the winter blues, take up a fun sport like snowshoeing. Snowshoeing is a popular winter sport because it is relatively easy to learn,  provides for a fun low impact aerobic activity and is a great way to exert energy during the cold winter months. It also allows you to explore and experience the beauty and tranquility of the snowy alpine forests while engaging in the activity.

Back by popular demand, at this online workshop, our speaker, Morgan Boyle will discuss what clothing you will need, the different types of equipment available for snowshoeing, how you actually snowshoe, and safety tips for enjoying this winter activity, including about avalanche awareness. Even if you are a seasoned “snowshoer”, come to this one-hour talk to brush up on some snowshoe tips.

Once you have attended this workshop and if you live in or near Seattle, you can sign up for the snow shoe trips that Morgan plans to lead during the upcoming winter months.

Speaker

Morgan Boyle, Practice Advocate at Optum Care Network and Director of Outdoor Projects at The Koa Club

Morgan has been interested in the outdoors since he was a child.  During his childhood he spent a lot of time solo hiking around the trails close to his house, oftentimes trying to get lost so he could find a route back to the trail head.  For the past four years Morgan has been a member of The Mountaineers allowing him to get back to hiking and learning new snow skills.  He has been involved with The Mountaineers snowshoe program as an instructor teaching Basic and Back Country skills; and he enjoys sharing how different the trails look with seasonal changes with all skills levels.
